To download software from Novation you need a account and the software is account and device based. Registering products is also needed to make use of the warranty IF you ever need it.

To connect the SL MKIII to the rest of my midi gear, I use standard DIN 5 midi cables.
Din OUT on the SL is going to DIN 1 IN of the MioXL, unfiltered in the filter and remap and routed to all used MIDI and RTP MIDI outputs .
MIDI OUT2/THRU is configured as OUT2 not act THRU. On this second midi OUT port is a direct connection to the Roland SoundCanvas SC 55st. This sound module communicates over all 16 midi channels at the same time and each midi channel is a separate midi instrument . Correct this sound module IS multi timbral up to 16 instruments simultaneously !
The Roland TR-8S midi OUT has a direct connection to the midi IN port of the SL as mentioned before in the hardware setup page
