One of the strongest features of this unit is filtering midi information in both ways, not only what comes in can be filtered but also what is going out.

This makes the unit capable of lowering down midi traffic to specific endpoints (instruments)

On the input sides (ref. To DIN x IN) I would not filter anything as I don’t use more as 1 or 2 midi inputs.

The Din midi output ports on the other can be filtered on a bunch of midi related stuff.

Be aware that like the midi routing light blue checked boxes are filtered out.

For example, if you check the Note On on midi CH 1 Output , the Note On command will NOT go through thus never plays a note. Same with the Note Off. If this box is checked and Note On unchecked will result in a never ending note.

Let’s for example take my Deepmind 12D.

The midi channel on the device is set to 11 on both receiving (RX) as transmitting (TX)

Setting this up we have to go to the output side of the left column  and start filtering out all channel filters except for channel 11.

Like this, all information is send out to all midi channels as if you would work with a midi thru box.

Remember:

Everything that is checked will colour light blue, and will be filtered out; the dark grey (unchecked) is passing towards the instrument on the din OUT port of the mioXL.

Notice that I do NOT filter anything out at the System Filter section. This contains transport, timing and synchronisation.

We DO want to keep those :-)

This results that on the DIN 3 OUT connector midi signals ONLY on midi channel 11 will get through, thus only the midi NEEDED for the Deepmind 12D, will actually GO to the Deepmind 12D and to no other synth.

Doing so for all of your equipment, you will reduce the amount of midi traffic to your instruments to the bare minimum.

In my honest opinion this will also help in reducing latency and synchronisation.
